OT Evaluations For Advocacy & Service Access
Our evaluations are designed to help families advocate for the services their child may need in school or other settings. These comprehensive assessments can be shared with educational teams, medical professionals, and service coordinators to support access to appropriate interventions and ensure every child receives the level of support they are entitled to.
Each Evaluation Includes:
Cognitive abilities (e.g., attention, direction following)
Fine and gross motor coordination
Strength and endurance
Grapho-motor and handwriting skills
Sensory processing
Visual-motor integration
Self-help skills (e.g., dressing, grooming)
Motor planning and organization
Advocacy Services
Every child deserves access to the services and support they are entitled to. Navigating the school system, understanding your child's rights, and ensuring those rights are actually honored can be overwhelming for any parent. That is where Sensory Street comes in.
We stand beside families as a knowledgeable and experienced advocate who understands both the clinical and educational sides of a child's needs. Our advocacy services include:
Attending and participating in IEP meetings to ensure your child's needs are accurately represented and that the proposed plan is appropriate and sufficient
Reviewing IEP documents and evaluation reports to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or recommendations that may not be in your child's best interest
Communicating and collaborating directly with schools and districts on behalf of your child when services are being reduced, denied, or discontinued
Helping families understand their rights under IDEA and other educational laws so they can participate in the process as informed and confident advocates
Providing written support and documentation when a family needs to formally challenge a school's decision or request additional services
Connecting families with additional resources and professionals when the situation calls for a broader team of support
You should never have to walk into an IEP meeting feeling alone or underprepared. Sensory Street is here to make sure your voice is heard and your child's needs are never overlooked.
A Note About Direct OT Services
Sensory Street still provides direct occupational therapy services in select capacities. Our therapists work within school settings through district contracts, bringing skilled OT support directly to students where they learn every day. Private one on one sessions are also available on a case by case basis depending on the nature of the child's needs.
What has changed is that Sensory Street no longer operates from a physical clinic location. There is no sensory gym or brick and mortar office. Our services are brought directly to the child's natural environment, whether that is a school, home, or community setting. We believe this approach is not only more convenient for families but also more effective, because children learn and grow best in the spaces where they actually live and function every day.
If direct OT services are recommended following a private assessment, our team will work with your family to determine the best way to deliver that support based on your child's unique needs and circumstances.
