Our Approach

After years of serving children and families through direct occupational therapy, Sensory Street has evolved. We have shifted from a traditional brick-and-mortar practice to a dynamic, community-centered model that meets families, educators, and communities where they are and equips them with what they need to create lasting change.

Our model is built on a simple but powerful belief: real progress happens when everyone on a child's team understands the root of the problem. Not just the symptoms. Not just the behaviors. But the underlying sensory, developmental, and functional challenges that affect a child's ability to learn, grow, and thrive independently.

We absolutely believe that occupational therapy works and that direct OT services are still very much needed for many children. This is not about replacing therapy. It is about taking a more dynamic approach that goes beyond the traditional model and invests deeply in the people surrounding that child, because the most powerful progress happens when skilled professionals, informed parents, and equipped educators are all working together.

We also recognize that family dynamics, stress, and the emotional environment at home can significantly impact a child's progress. In select cases, we may recommend collaboration with a family therapist or psychologist as an optional additional layer of support. This is never a requirement. It is simply a resource we make available when we feel it could genuinely benefit a child and their family.

At Sensory Street, our commitment is always the same. To look at the whole picture, equip everyone on the team, and ensure every child has the support they need to thrive.

While Sensory Street is evolving in exciting new ways, some of the core services that have always been at the heart of what we do remain unchanged. Click here to learn more about our Private Assessment and Advocacy Services.
